Twilight

Quintessential geek talk right here! Who doesn't love comics? And who doesn't love a good read? Honestly?

Twilight

Postby Dave on Wed Jul 09, 2008 8:02 pm

I have been reading Twilight lately (the first book of that series). I am about half way through it right now and I am hooked. I can't wait to finish it now and get to new moon and then eclipse. I want to try to get through all three of them before the 4th book comes out in August. I doubt I will but I am going to def. give it a try. If anyone else has been reading or has read these books let me know what you think of them.

I am not through Twilight and New Moon. I am about half way through Eclipse. Eclipse is my favorite so far of the series and I am not even done with it yet.

I've not read the books, so I really can't judge them, though I want to so badly. But perhaps my kneejerk reaction to them is more about the culture and less about the books themselves.

They really are very intertaining. Are they the best thing I have ever read no but they are really good. Of course I am a little biased though because I love books with vampires and warewolfs in them.

I do too, but the growing "urban fantasy" genre has worn me out on them.

I agree with you, Justin. I started reading the first book and got disillusioned because I felt luike I was falling into a fad. I usually don't like to immerse myself with fads. I ususally start getting into things before they're a fad.

It seems more urban fantasy to me. I agree, Justin.

sorry guys, not feeling the love for Twlight, and I LOVE vampires.
Not enuff blood. No sex. I'll stick to my old Anne Rice.
I want to see the movie, but I'm thinking I'll pass on the rest
Of the books.

Ack, I hate Anne Rice even more. I'm not sure anyone has done more to neuter vampires than she did.

Ok I finished Twilight. Yeah, um..
I'm done. Not going on with the series.

As far as the Anne Rice Vamps. Going from the mythology she was using they make sense and I wouldn't call them Neuter. They just derive the same pleasures as humans do. The act of biting is equal to sex. Look at Bram Stoker's Dracula. ( not the movie the book) . ( but I like Yaoi too so..)

Sorry I was just let down by this one. I'm a vampire mythology freak. I LOVE this stuff, but Idunno. Twilight did nothing for me. Maybe its the Vigan vamp thing. I like my Vamps to for lack a better term eat meat. To be a bit more monstrous not fluffy bunnies.

The characters I thought we most interesting we the other family members.

I love BTVS and Angel and Supernatural's version of Vampires but I haven't really read much about them. When I heard about the Twilight series, it got pitched to me as a girl that falls in love with a vampire and I though Buffy and Angel, but after I found out that it was purely teenage romance novel with Vampires thrown in, I got kind of turned off. I might read one eventually but I am not rushing to Borders to buy it.
