The Satellite Feed - Transmission 025

Postby JustinMacumber on Mon Dec 22, 2008 5:16 pm

Apparently Dennis is too busy to post this, so I'll take care of it...

Well, another great episode of The Satellite Feed has come and gone. As always, well done. Your reviews were as robust and detailed as usual. I was sad to not see a "Best Of The Rest" segment, though, as I was curious to see what your take was on last week's Chuck. I'm still not sure how I feel about it, and I'm afraid it might take the show down a road I don't want it to go down. Your thoughts might have helped.

That said, your review of season four of LOST was great. You really do go all out when you review these things. I'm glad to see you're as big a fan of the show as I am. I agree that it's, bar none, the best show currently on television, and probably the best show ever, even over Buffy and The X-Files, which previously held that spot. Lindelof and Cuse had done a masterful job of making a show as deeply geeky as you could make it while also maintaining an emotional through-line that is as harsh and real as anything else on television. Everyone on the cast consistantly does good work, and the score is the envy of all other shows. I'm so glad the Blu Ray version managed to again upset the broadcast version. Season three on Blu Ray was reference quality, and so is season four.

Anyway, I'm done. Great job, keep it up, and next time slip in a little Slaughter for me. "Up All Night" or "Fly To The Angels" would be a nice compliment to Europe.

Oopsy doodle! Did I forget to make a thread? Must have slipped my mind. Sorry guys and thanks Justin for the kind words.

I probably should have added a little blurb about leaving out the "Best of the Rest" segment this week to the podcast's introductory beat. With the winter hiatus now upon us, and 90 percent of shows having gone off the air, I decided to do a little "saving of content" to have something to discuss during the hiatus. In fact, I'm planning to do a Best of the Rest special event. All reviews and thoughts on some of the "not so recognized" shows on television.

I have however realized that come late January/early February I will have a big problem on my hands. I will have too many shows to review! With Lost, BSG and 24 all making their way back to television sets around the world it's going to end up being pretty crowded on the Observation Deck. So much so, that I'm struggling to prioritize which shows gets the full recap/review treatment of the OD and which shows will get the BOTR treatment. Decisions, decisions.

I also want to take the time and wish every one of the Jewish persuasion a very Happy Hanukkah, and all the gentile boys and girls a Merry Christmas. Kwanza gets nothing! Racism? No. Just pragmatism. No one knows what Kwanza is! You get someone to explain it to me without using the words "Black" and "Christmas" and then we'll talk further.
From my black throne I will lash together a machine of bone & blood, fueled by my hatred for you this fear machine will bore a hole between this world and that one.

A suggestion on what you could do - Let people vote. In an upcoming episode, let them know about the situation, and then have them come here or send you an email letting you know what shows they want to hear you talk about. Cull out from that the best five or so, and you're done. You also might want to lengthen the best of the rest. OR, you could just truncate the reecaps and stick more to your thoughts.

I don't know, just ideas. That said, if LOST and BSG isn't on your list, I'll stomp my foot and pout. Lost only has two seasons to go, and BSG is on its last, so that along should get them in.

25 Excellent!

Transmission 25 was excellent as usual, and I especially liked the LOST segment.

I also wish a very Merry Christmas and Happy Hannukah to all who celebrate the holidays!

With so many shows coming back in January and February, it also occured to me that Denis would have a LOT to cover! My simple suggestion would be to cut down on the detail of the recaps and concentrate more on reviews or personal thoughts on the episodes. I would like to see extra time spent on LOST and TERMINATOR:TSCC, but all the others mentioned here are important, too, so it's going to be tough. I also hope things can return to a weekly format, and that would obviously cut back 50% on the amount of episodes to cover each time! 8)
